Well, it’s officially the new year and that means the holiday decorations have been packed away. Your Christmas tree is down and the ribbons tied up, but that doesn’t mean your house has to feel empty for the rest of the winter season. Below are a handful of tips to decorate your home for the rest of the cold months!
Included in this post are a few items you can shop for a winter refresh in your home-lets get into it!
1. Get Rid of Red
The two colors that are synonymous with the Holidays are green and red. Red bows, stockings, table runners, etc. are all part of the Christmas season. But once December is over, it’s time to stash these items away for next year. To keep the coziness of winter in your home, keep the dark green out for the rest of the season with pillows and warm throws.
2. Add Extra Coziness With Textures
Another great way to add coziness to your home in the winter months is by adding textures like faux furs and boucle. Both will look great on pillows and throws draped over your couch or accenting a leather chair. If faux fur or boucle isn’t your thing, leather or velvet are great options as long as the velvet isn’t red. See the widget near the bottom of the page for a velvet pouf that would make a great addition to your home this season!
3. Say Bye to the Holiday Greenery
But that doesn’t mean you can’t replace it! When the tree and garland are down, you may feel as if your house is lacking the natural elements that these items bring to your home during the Holidays. To keep the idea of bringing the outdoors in, add green stems to a vase or pine cones in bowls or lanterns. Above you can find some olive branches and pine cone stems that would make great additions to your winter decor.
4. Highlight Your Space with Accent Pieces
It’s no secret if you know me that I love gold and wood tones. In the wintertime, add a few gold candlesticks to your dining table, mantel, or arrange them on a side table. Picture frames and bowls are perfect ways to add wood tones to your home. (P.S. – I LOVE the bundle of birch above 😍).
5. Stash Away the Christmas Candles
And bring out the candles that remind you of cozying up to a crackling fire on a cold winter day. Some of my favorite candles to burn January-March are more masculine and spiced scents.
